Trouble rather the tiger in his lair than the sage amongst his books. For to you Kingdoms and their armies are things mighty and enduring, but to him they are but toys of the moment, to be overturned by the flicking of a finger....

[edit] Minimal Bio

I've been programming computers for exactly 30 years (Aug-Sept. 1977: punched card IBM 1130 "FORTRAN IV" (numeric IFs...)), LISP since 1979, Scheme (reading the Lambda papers) in 1980 or '81, followed SICP from AI Memo draft to 2nd edition, took 6.001 from Sussman about the last time he lectured in I think 1983, and worked for LMI and Goldhill before the AI Winter set in and LISP and Scheme were left for fun in my very minimal spare time. Back when it was viable, T was perhaps my most favorite LISP.

Computers and programming are a means to an end, I'm a scientist (chemist) who by circumstance was forced into a software development career.

Now, I'm retired (early), have a lot of time on my hands, and this site is a very high priority, an important means to several of my ends which require a healthy Scheme As We Know It community.

Or at least my ends will be a lot easier and more fun; while I suppose I could wait for Steele and company's Fortress, I have no intension of abandoning what's expressed in this instant classic:
